It is interesting to read comments over the last few days that are making points some of us have been making for the past two seasons, if not longer.
Some players are not been used correctly, we have to many "white ball mercaneries", who hardly play, and don't add value when they do. The captaincy is abysmal, both in style and decisions. We are also wasting too many overs using bowlers who are conceding about 15 runs per over, that is a sure way to lose the game.
The composition of the squad is poor, especially when Bethell and Woakes are on England duty. We have no viable batting alternatives, Yates has been dropped, as happens every year, Malik & Sheikh qould not improve the side. Yet again, we are dependent on Sam Hain & Ed Barnard to produce a match winning score. Good as they both are, it is not reasonable, and unfair, to expect them to produce 100% of the time.
We should allow Ian Westwood to appoint his choice of Captain and VC, and give him total control over the selection of the plaing side. Ian was appointed to his role so late in the off season that it was difficult to put his plans into place before the season started.
There is the core of a good squad, that should be competitive in all forms of the game, but a lot of rebuilding is needed, which should include making use of the loans market to strengthen the side for this season. It might also be an idea to send some players who aren't in the side out on loan, so they can get first team experience at D2 level.
Unchanged team.
We bat first, & Davies fails again, playing a bad shot.
Seems thats the case every game!
He has just signed a 3 year contract etension at Worcestershire.
Isaac is a good young player he was playing for the County U18 side as a 15 year old. He'd a batsman that can also bowl medium pace.

Somerset have some exciting young players in their side, including Thomas Rew, Josh Thomas and JT Langridge.
Didn't someone here say we had "the best opening partnership in the championship"?
It would be wonderful if they actually performed to the level of an average opening partnership!
Perhaps it is time to have a look on the loan market to see what top order batsmen are available.
The Yates dismissal looked to be the correct decision from the umpire.
Think Fernando was a short term deal.
Malik has had one good innings in the 2nd team all season, hardly an overwhelming reason to be put in the first team.
I'd move Mousley to 3 with Webster at 5, so Malik and Sheikh are omitted.

Adding Latham, Webster and Bethell to the side would massively strengthen the top five of the order, as well as adding two good bowlers.
Changes to the top of the batting order are needed, and it would be a good idea for the club to see what top order batsmen are available on loan, as apart from Bethell we do not have any other batsmen on the staff that are ready for first team cricket.
It would be interesting to know who made the final decision over which overseas players to sign over the past few years.
The lack of quality, and availability, of the players signed suggest that the club was tied into an exclusive contract with one player agency, that was supplying sub standard goods, or the coaching staff failed to properly research the market and just went for a cheap option.
Hopefully Latham & Webster will provide the high quality performances that are required.
With the conditions leaving Taz out is, probably, the right decision, these really aren't the conditions for a young spinner.
A really impressive performance from our "best in the championship" opening pair, both back in the pavillion within 20 minutes of the game starting. Sam Hain must be getting fed up of having to rescue the side from poor starts almost every game.
That was a trillion times better than any T20 game.
Over 10,000 watching the live stream, just shows how good proper red ball cricket can be.
Well done to Ethan Bamber, Michael Booth, Kai Smith, Ed Barnard and Fernando for a brilliant lower order performance.
Perhaps if our top order batsmen scored runs, and lived up to their reputations as 'the best opening partnership in the country' we wouldn't be dependent on the tail to get the runs needed.
Well done to Ed Barnard, Kai Smith and Michael Booth for getting us close to the total.
Careful, you know it's not permitted to critisize our "wonderful" opening batters here! :-)
He obviously thought been on the field for 10 deliveries was a full days work!
