We potentially have some good young players who are deserving of Rookie contracts eg Isaac Maddy, Dandy, Ed Millar, Jake Garlick

I'd also be looking at players who have become free agents like George Thomas, and maybe at some of the top young B'ham league players who are playing National Counties cricket, Jack Warner of Barnt Green s & Reeve Evitts of Wolverhampton are two that are worth looking at.

We need to be careful and not put the blame on the wrong person.

It is not the fault of a coach if a player failed to perform by bowling totally the wrong line and length that was discussed in the pre game meetings, or a batsman consistantly gets out by playing totally inappropriate shots for the ball faced and the game situation.

Players have to take responsibility for their actions, and take onboard guidance from their coaches.

I'd suggest there needs to be a cleaar out at the end of the season, only keeping players who are a established first team players, or have the potential to develop into a regular first team player. This included taking into account the age of the player and their availability.

If you look at counties like somerset and Worcestershire, they have a squad filled with younger players and very few over 30, that is not the case with Warwicks.

there are a small number of exceptions, but if a player is in their mid 20's and they have failed to establish themself as a regular first team player, especially when they have been involved in pro cricket for 8-10 years, you have to ask if it is ever likely to happen.

As a famous NFL coach once said, part of been good enough to play is being available to play.

Too many of our bowlers fail the being available part.

I'd suggest that, unless there are exceptional mitigating circumstances, any out of contract player who was unavailable for 50% of the season is released.

The club also needs to move away from allowing players to fail consistantly with no consequences, I'd suggest we need to look for two or three batsmen to replace our current back up batsmen.

We may need to spend the rest of the season and winter examining what options are available from free agents, and selecting a good fast bowler or all rounder from Aus, NZ or SA.

Sheikh was offered a new contract and chose to decline the contract and seek employment elsewhere, as anyone is able to do.

His performances in the Warwickshire first team were not very impressive.

Jani has scored just 23 runs from his 3 innings, does that really justify his selection for the rest of the competition?
His contract expires at the end of the season, have his performances, in all forms of the gane, been good enough to be offered another contract?

Malik has 48 runs from his two games, again is that acceprtable for a specialist batsman, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.
Especially with his age, 29, you have to think it would be a risk offering him a new contract.
Does anyone here honestly see Jani or Malik becoming an established first team player? Iknow I don't think that either can, or will, consitantly score the runs needed to become an established first team player.

If the focus is on developing players , why is Davies in the side and keeping wicket? Why is Lintott, a player who is going to be released in the side?

Smith needs to be given time with the gloves and both Wylie and Garlick who, potentially, have a future with the club should be included.

Again it is very harsh that Theo Wylie is omitted, but very pleased to see Charlie Taylor making his debut.

He's a very young, and talented, player. We should not judge him just on his performance today.

If he was fit to play makes his omission even harsher. He did well on his debut and should have been allowed to build on that.

Third game is at Taunton son Sunday.

Hopefully Sam Hain and Theo Wylie are fit to return, it might also be a good chance to give Charlie Taylor his first game.

I think it would be accurate to say that the decision Jake Lintott wasn't in the clubs long term plans was made several months ago.
Having signed him on a season long loan, it is interesting that Kent have decided he no longer fits in with their plans too.

I'd assume the plan was got Garton to be an impact batsman, we shouldn't discard or judge him after just one game, especially as we have given numerous, some would say too many, to others who fail consistantly.

Have you tried using the direction option in google maps?

It will give you public transport options and timings.

even though the result wasn't the win we wanted, there were some significant positives from the game.

A very good debut from Theo Wylie, and Jake Garlic showed he was worth the chance.

A good innings from Sam Hain, and contributions from almost everyone else.

There is a lot to be positive about.
