Yes I used 100% of the available data to make a conclusion that is accurate and totally valid, based on the available information.

As dodgy insurance companies say "Past performance is not indicitive for future results"!

"Jeetan went for 7.26 an over in 2019 and 8.51 in 2020, his last season in the Blast."

Both of which are lower than the run rates for our current spinners, significantly lower in the case of the expensive overseas international player.

Perhaps we need to took at how early in the innings the first and second wickets are falling. If they are falling in the first couple of overs, part of the job of the incoming batsman is to stabilise the innings, which can, in many cases, need a period of consilidation and solidity.

The fact that one of the openers has only faced 11 balls in his two innings does suggest that may be a very significant factor.

He has a very strange action that, could, be worthy of investigation for throwing. It does not look a smooth or natural delivery.

Keith Barker has a knee injury, is was announced a few days ago.

Current averages posted without comment, so people can draw theirt own conclusions about the information provoided.

It was decided to play Malik, a specialist batsman, who has a poorer record than Smith who is a batsman keeper.

Kai has scored more runs, from a lot less innings and averages almost 42.

Is Davies's keeping really 80 runs per game better?

Mousley, excluding best score, average is about 12, so over 5 times higher than Davies for the same criteria.

With a 4 day second team game at Headingly this week, the logical thing, consideiring his abysmal performances would have to included Davies in that game to get some practice. Apart from his one acceptable innings, his other 7 innings have produced 16 runs at an average of 2.66.

Fantastic start.

When will Ian Westwood make the change that is overdue and drop Davies?

4 games from a 14 game season is almost 30% of the full season, so makes the information significant.

The link was to the actual game data. Key averages minus highest score

Barnard 22.00
Smith 36.00
Yates 30.80
Hain 27.00
Mousley 14.60
Davies 03.20
Malik 04.00

The batting averages show a significant cause of weakness in the team.

Sadly you won't be able to see Davies bat this morning, he was out in the first couple of overs.

"Let's hope Davies keeps wicket better than he bats!"

It would be very hard not to, but would be truly horific, and probably not something to be shown before the 9pm threashold :-)

Third game of the championship season.

Hopefully Ian Westwood has done a deep root cause analysis of our issues from the previous games and is prepared to make the needed changes to resolve the issues.

Kai Smith has done enough to be assured he has the keeping gloves for the rest of the championship season, There are good reasons to rotate some of the seam bowlers, what is concerning is the lack of a top quality spin bowler. Perhaps we need to see if we can get Cory on the next flight over for the rest of the season.
Yet again, the top three in the order are consitant in their inconsistancy, and regularly fail to give us a good atart to an innings, which has a massive negative effect on the rest of the batsmen, and the bowlers, who get less time to rest between innings than they should. If the budget allows the club should be looking to see what top order players are available on the loan market, of from Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, as we currently have a second overseas player slot open.
