Mike Taylor has an incredibly deep voice. Incredibly deep. If he inhaled helium it would bring him up to the level of Barry White.

Thanks for posting this. My Dad knew Bob through the ACS and did some research work for him the 80s. The Red Lion is just down the road so he may well stop by.

I stopped following Hopps on Twitter because of his support for Yorkshire during the racism crisis, so when he says "vaguely at odds" he really does mean "vaguely". Reactions to the report don't shock me. I've long thought that county cricket is incredibly conservative, resistant to change and very unwilling to consider itself part of the problem, if it accepts there are problems at all. It's no surprise that people with those attitudes don't like the report's findings.

Top order let us down. Batters 1-7 scored one fifty in 14 knocks.

I imagine there will be a lot of similar statements from counties today, pointing out all the brilliant initiatives and projects they have.

You've absolutely sawed us off here paul.

With an agressive, confrontational attitude like that I simply can't fathom why they might not want to come.

I've been watching the women's Ashes. I assume the track at Essex is as flat as a pancake?

Welcome Dom, and go well.

You have to hand it Notts, to they played well when it mattered and Joe Clarke played the innings of his life. We batted great, we bowled great for the most part and the fielding again was good. Sometimes all that just isn't quite enough.

I can understand if he goes - England are in a right pickle and if they ask him to help them out of a hole I totally get that. It's not a question of disloyalty - he hasn't gone looking for it and the situation wouldn't have arisen at all but for an injury at the 11th hour. As Leicester says, it might even rebound in our favour.

I can see it happening. Rather than pick a substandard spinner just to eat up a few overs, why not pick a quality bowler who is a handful in English conditions and strengthens the batting? It also solves the Stokes problem. The only issue I see is that Chris isn't that different to what's already in the seam attack.

Yes. Now it seems they'll be looking for a spinner merely to give the seamers a rest, the ultimate humiliation. May as well just pick Woakes.

There are worse options. But whoever they pick is going to be targetted immediately.

Jack Leach has been ruled out of the Ashes with a stress fracture of the back. Could England come calling for Mo? Would be a big call but they'll be desperate with it starting imminently.

Josh Tongue has been selected ahead of Chris for Thursday's Test match against ireland at Lord's. Seems his Test career may be drawing to a close although with the state of our quicks' fitness, who knows when an opportunity might present itself.

Very impressive performance. As were the previous two. Great stuff.

I admire Topley for having done what he did and whistleblowers should be treated with more respect than he was but he's a terrible commentator.

While there's room for improvement for most of our batters, the one that worries me most right now is the skipper.

One other point about Yates and Davies specifically is that they're opening batters which is a pretty thankless role at this stage of the season. I think they should be compared to other openers.
