With the likely diminishing of CC games, 50-over games being moved elsewhere, me hating The Hundread and if the T20 gets scrapped, I could be another person who decides I can't be bothered with buying a membership. 36 consecutive years but people who 'RUN' this game do not care about people like me. They want to make money from The Hundread and pour it into 'Grass Routes' as they say, for hardly any children who have no intention of playing, who come from schools where they will not get a chance to play.

Lots of scenario's can occur but teams like Durham and Lancashire could help us out as they appear to be safe, by beating all their opponents in the remaining games. Anyone look at the crowd and think, "Where have they all gone", it would really piss me off if crowds for The Hundread were bigger. Is it the team inconsistency or have crowds just got bored with T20. I did hear that crowds in general are down overall for T20.

Really don't think the batsmen are to blame, not many side chase down scores like that and trust us to lose to a side who were on a downward spiral. It is so close in our group that even Notts could still qualify. The bowling was poor, too wide, too short, too often with a few extras thrown in. They more or less batted consistently throughout their first 3, all scoring at 2 runs per ball. We need lots of results to go our way.

The commentators said the same last night, that 170 was par and a winning score if you bowl well.

The bowling was really good especially the early stuff in the powerplay, to push the scoring rate up to 10+ so early in the game was crucial. A few tight games going on at the moment so it will be an interesting table to look at in half an hour.

Bowled well up to the CC winning season and in THAT game v Somerset where we clinched it but not much after. When he was on song, he was good but on a bad day... A bit like Melvyn Betts when he was here.

Devon Bear, you are right about the selections and you wonder at what point does a young player think he will only get picked if no alternative can be chosen instead. A genuine fast bowler like Simmons should also get some overs with a new ball, if I was an opener, the last thing I'd want first up is to face some pace and England do the same with Wood, wait until a batsman is set and then bring the pace on when the shine is off the ball.

At Latham's scoring rate, we would get an average score of 156 if everyone batted at the same rate. That isn't going to get us very far which suggests everyone needs to 'Get a move on'.

Latham's T20 record was something I looked at before he played his first game and it is not very impressive so why he is at the top of the order where we need to take advantage of the 'Powerplay', is beyond me. Moeen has not been the player we saw when he played against us for Worcestershire. He appeared to relish making big match-winning scores but has not really got going for us.

We just have to win and we might need a bit of help elsewhere. It is a very tight group.

Lickey-bear, I always covet the CC more mainly because I gave up seeing us ever win it as I hated watching Warwickshire teams that were good on paper, finish very low down and I really just hoped for a cup every now and then. From the early 1980's I despaired watching Lloyd, Smith, Kalli, Amiss, Humpage, Oliver, Din, Ferreira, Small, Lethbridge, Willis get us close but not close enough in one-day games. In 1983, we floated about near the top but got to 5th and once we had a good attack from 1988 onwards it seemed on but the little bit of gameswap that Lancs/Essex did in 1991 was me thinking it would never happen. When it finally did 3 years later, it was great to see other teams jealous of our wins. Of course in between times, we did win one-day cups and the 1989 final was amazing as it has been 21 years since the last one which no one has any film of unfortunately. I do have great affection for our cup final victories but they are not as highly thought of now, not played at Lord's and very small crowds. I still prefer a CC title but having seen a very small crowd for the 4 days when we last won it 4 years ago, it makes me wonder how we can get 3-4 times that many for a meaningless T20 game where we can't qualify and yet a title decider is poorly attended. I guess not many feel the same as me but maybe that separates 'Diehard Fans' to ones who just turn up for T20.

What is frustrating is that by the close if they haven't lost too many wickets, they could only be 100 so behind our score and a lead would see us trying to bat out for a draw. If you introduced someone to cricket with them having no knowledge of the game whatsoever, they would wonder why they were watching it and what the whole point was. This game might produce a positive result but I would be surprised if it was us who won it.

I got confused earlier with Taz and Zen which at least stopped my "What Bamber at 7..." panic that I had this morning. A good start though so far.

Bamber at 7 and it looks very weak on that front. I would put Roccchi at 7, he didn't look too bad last game. At least, it seems we have made a move that reflects us trying to bowl Sussex out but hope the long tail won't be something we regret.
