Worcestershire are batting first at New Road, so a good team effort with the bat, denying Lancs full bonus points would be very helpful.
Effectively we need to score points or Lancs drop points to total of 5 to ensure Warwickshire stay in D1.
I was right about Mousley and Booth.
Let us see if we manage to get the five points needed!

Also Thank You Bristol Bear :-)
It seems to be accepted in most places that Old Albert did say something approximating to my quote, indeed, among others, the chairman (or is t person these days) of the Cricket Writers Club has used the quote several times over the years.
Also I've had more than enough rain the last few days, might need to listen to some music by the excellent band Rain :-)
"Positive change is needed, having a demotivated ex captain is likely to be a negative towards the teams performance, therefore it is logical to leave him out for this one game.
It gives the new leader a clean sheet to influence and guide the team."
"As Albert Einstein said "To keep doing the same thing and expecting different results, is madness"."
Until it is mathamatically impossible to go down a side is not safe.
It would be negligent and irresponsible to not taking actions to ensure the club is not relegated, rather than just hoping other sides failing to obtain the points they need to survive.
Change is needed, the ones I am suggesting are positive, and will give a new captain the best change of ensuring Div 1 survival.
To, attempt to, bring this thread back onto the topic.
Possible side for Thursday, including changes I think are needed.
Rhodes, Mousley, Kai Smith, Barnard (C), Hain, Burgess(wk), Benjamin, Briggs, Booth, OHD, A.N. Other(Woakes if available)
The club needs to get 5 points to ensure Division 1 survival. The best chance of achieving that is to allow a new captain a clean slate without the negative influence that having a disposed formaer captain could create.
The 1912 Tri Series was a thriller!
Including the first test match with no play whatsoever!

Perhps posts about a one day final 56 years ago should be moved to a seperate thread as they are very off topic for a championship game this season.
Not sure who suggested leaving Ehodes out, he'd definately play if I was selecting the side. He has been totally professional and commited since he announced his move.
It's disapointing that he felt he needed to leave.
The club need 5 points to ensure safety.
Surely it is negligence by the senior management not to make the changes to give the best chance of securing those points?
The Robinson/Davies combination hasn't worked so far, why would it work in the last game?
is copyright theft actually an arrestable offence?
Dont worry I'm not trying, just wanting to have the information shared for the benefit of everyone here.

Like politicians, sports coaches have a "use by" date, when their methods and message loses it effectiveness and value. Sadly, we have reached that stage with Mark Robinson, and it would be best for the club, and Mark, if the change was made. Being head coach of a first class team is hard and tiring work, and eventually everyone runs of of energy and fresh ideas.
A new voice, delivering a fresh message and new ideas is needed.
The sooner decisive action is taken the better, shame the initial changes aren't taking place this week.
I have no confidence that a side coached by Robinson and with Davies as captain would perform any better at Trent Bridge.
It is not about if Robinson is a good or bad coach, but his methods are no longer effective. That is seen in many walks of life with managers.
What we want is for the club to have good leadership, on and off the field, that performs well and makes sensible signings of players to improve on what we have.
signings like Viari, Ali & Jamaal etc have failed to do that. Also the record on releasing young players, but giving extended contracts to ones who had performed worse than the released players does suggest a number of errors in the clubs internal decision making.
It would be better if Robinson and Davies resigned today.
Appoint Ed Barnard as captain and make Ian Westwood interim head coach.
Davies should not be involved at Trent Bridge, to allow the new captain and coach the maximum opportunity to make a fresh start.
Surely it is better to make the, needed, change now to help end the season on a positive note, and start to repair the toxic workplace culture that exists?
Of the current squad, Ed Barnard seems the obvious choice, burgess and OHD as vice captains would be a good choice.
Nothing Robinson said was convincing, or gave an impression that he even knew what caused the situation, and definately not that he had the answers to turn the situation around.
The phrase "Dead man walking" came to mind.
Has signed to spend the winter with Gold Coast Eagles in queensland, the home club of Sam Hain.
