A match winning innings, and even better his family were there to see him play.

It is probably the closest viable "Outground" :-)

Sam is our best batsman by far, he doesn't need the extra stress.
Mousley hasn't established himself in the side.

Barnard or Burgess would be the best options, however we all know that Robinson will make a dreadful decision and give the job to Davies, with Yates as VC, meaning their mediocrity is rewarded further, and ensuring we have another year, or more of poor starts to every innings.

A thought on the actual World Cup competition, the geographical spread of the countries involve was overly biased in favour of one region of the world. surely the time has come to have regional based qualifying, so that all continents are included. It is wrong that Africa only had one country involved and the was no representation for the American continent.

As Ed Barnard and Michael Burgess should be two of the first names on the tesamsheet, in all formats, perhaps they would be the perfect combination to be captain and VC.

I honestly feel that appointing Davies would be a very bad decision, and will harm the teams prospects for the season and beyond.

Sadly I feel the next captain appointed will be a poor choice.

I'd like to see Ed Barnard been given the role, with OHD as his VC, however it is almost ertain Robinson will continue his policy of rewarding mediocraty by given the role to Davies or Yates.

Sadly some players seem to be given special treatment. which has lead to the problems with opening batsmen and the negative effects of that on the rest of the team.

The coaches work with the players everyday, so they not only see their on field performances, but their ability to learn, their efforts and their general attitudes and behavious.

Johal and Garrett had done nothing to put them near a first team place over the last two seasons, under different bowling coaches, so it was unlikely to change going forwards.

Sorry 3 of the 4, As he was capped on the last morning I'd forgotten about him getting the honour.

Even worse than the poor record of the overseas players was probably the largest signing made by Robinson, and the fact that all 3 of 4 full county caps given out this season were to players whos contribution to the club did not deserve the honour.
Ed Barnard deserved to be capped, but wasn't.

Any good agent will be aware of his clients contract end date, and will be working to ensure a new contract is signed before the current deal expires.

I'd think that the majority of players will have some form of advisor, either a formal "agent" of advice form a combination of solicitor/accountant, obviously there are a few players with the skills to deal with their own contracts.

Sam Hain was 5th in the batting category.

As mentioned before, this is based on raw stats, so has no context to the results, or the value of the runs etc to a teams match situation.
anyone who is at first slip to a good seam bowling attack should have good raw fielding fgures.

To become true contenders in the championship, a massive improvement in the quality of the opening batsmen is needed. It is not fair on the rest of the side that the mediocrity delivered this season is accepted, and even worse rewarded with full county caps.

If Sam was available he would have significantly strengthened the side.

There is an obvious choice of who should have been replaced.

That is good to know :-)

Just a shame Sam has had to wait so long for his England chance, while lessor players from favoured counties were given multiple chances.

I know, are you feeling unwell? :-)

Sam is in the side today, a great day for Sam and all his family.

A question, if a batsman keeps getting out to bad shots, and playing the wrong shot in the context of the game and innings situation, is that the fault of the player or the batting coach?

Also, in the above situation, what is the effect on the moral and motivation of the rest of the team when a player continues to be selected despite consistantly failing and showing no effort to improve?

Careful, thats twice we have agreed in two days :-)
