For various, logical reasons, the ECB chose not to have the championship designated as Elite Sport.
Several non-league football competitions did that and found the costs involved onerous and of no real advantage.
The video interview with Mark Robinson said he'd been in the indoor nets from Sunday.
A bit hard to do any outside practice at the moment!
Woakes batting at 6 for us would really help the balance of the side, even if he didn't bowl many overs.
Having his batting and doing the 4th seamer role for us would really strengthen the side.
Perhaps our coaches thought it would be more beneficial to have time training with the first team before the Worcester game.
I see that the Worcestershire 2nd team game at Barnt Green was called off for the day very early today. Barnt Green is one of the better club grounds for drainage, so must have been exceptionally wet, also the low ambient temperatures won't help the drying process.
It is good that he has got another chance. He took some time away from the game after leaving Warwickshire, so hopefully he's regained his desire for the game.
The game has been abandoned without any play.
No play today, so reduced to a three day game.

A key game to see if the side can bounce back after defeat at Durham.
One positive change to the side will be the first apearance of Pieter Mallan, which will strengthen the batting.
Possibly a return for Stone too.
Worcestershire have not yet won a game, and conceded over 560 runs in the first innings of their game with Essex.
Kelly has played the last two second team games just as a batsman, & not really contributed much.
D. Lincoln was keeping, he's player for other second teams, and again didn't contribute much with the bat.
Finding a new keeper may be a task for the winter.
The wicket was two paced and had variable bounce, which didn't help. Also some, like Matt Lamb got unplayable balls. However overall the performance wasn't good enough. Sometimes psycological factors come into play and contribute to a team collapsing, today looked like one of those days.
You have to wonder who made the decision to sign him, and how much the exersize has cost.
One good innings in three games is not good value, or helping the team develop.
Over the three games, how can anyone say Vahari has provided good value for the many thousands the club has spent on him? Not just salary, but flights, visa and work permits,, acomodation for him and his wife/partner. Id be very surprised if there was any change from £15,000.
For the development of the team, and our players, it would have been more effective to have played either Moulsey or Hose. It's unlikely either would have scored less runs over the three games.
Lost by Innings & 93 runs.
It was 16 against Kent over 100 years ago.
I don't think there will be any need to prepare teas today!
Toss 11:40, start at 12:00
Norwell in for Stone.
Durham elected to field.
50 for Ed Pollock.
