We really are streched to the limit.
While it's great for Manraj to be included in the squad, he's not yet at the stage in his development that he should be included.
It could be a long four days, fortunately I've aquired a ticket for the first day, hopefully we can put in a good performance.
I feel having to go into the game with what was effectively a third string bowling attack was the key factor, which combined with poor shot selection for most of the batsmen made winning impossible.
Ed Pollock was the only batsman that looked comfortable and able to score at the pace required.
Very good report on the game by David Hopps for Cricinfo

A couple of observations from the New Road stand, the Worcestershire side seemed sharper in the field, and their throws back to the keeper were much more accurate. Burgess had a hard time tonight with some of the throws.
Sidebottom actually slows down in his run up, when ideally a bowler should be increasing speed to the point of deivery.
For a young player, who shouldn't really be anywhere near the first team at this stage, Jacob Bethell did pretty well.
Ed Pollock batted verry well, showing not only a good range of shots, but the ability to keep rotating the strike.
Some of the others played very poor shots indeed.
As a squad we are probably stretched almost to the limits.
Sam Hain must have done, and Ian Bell.
Quite rare, I believe the very annoying Gary Neville did that for Lancashire many years ago, before he realised he wouldn't be allowed to abuse officials all through the game in cricket!
Yes, as stated in the report on the club website!
Probably the majority of players who go on to have county contracts have played some county 2nd team cricket when they were 15.
You're Safe the over 70's are all fit and well this week.
Well as fit and well as an over 70's side can be :-)
Even if the entire squad went down with COVID they wouldn't be that desperate, Even the Warwickshire over 70's wouldn't be that desperate!
Has anyone managed to get one of the 1,500 tickets for this game?
I don't need to be told twice :-)
We were sset a target of 250 off 50 overs
Judging from the video clips, some very gentle declaration bowling from Warwickshire.
Fortunately sports science has developed since then, and the importance of staying well hydrated is now understood.
As long as a player has a reasonable strike rate, the number of runs scored should be more important.
Someone who scores 6 and then gets out next ball has a strike rate of 300, but overall is of little value to the team!
The substitutes can be any player legitimately registered for the club. Obviously thay would have to be England qualified.
Of course both sides are allowed fully participating substitutes for any players that leave for England duties.
I think it's a good idea to share the captaincy around, it helps develop leadership skills, and understanding.
Ethan Brookes is captain today according to the live scores link.
It's not unusual for a player to be included in a squad when he is recovering from an injury and a decison is made on the day of the game if he is fit enough to play, or for a player to be injured after a squad is selected.

Probably a few trialists in the side this week due to injuries and the first team game.
