Three of our players will be with England for the Hong Kong Sixes.
Ed Barnard, Dan Mousley and Nathan Gilchrist all named in the squad.
John Simpson, Fynn Hudson-Prentice, Martin Andersson and Jack Carson are the other squad members.
Do we know if the club is producing a “behind the scenes” type video similar to how they did for the final day of the 2021 Championship?
I’d hope so.
Pretty sure the talk was a largely similar schedule to this year.
For anyone who hasn't seen it already, a truly, truly brilliant read on Ethan Bamber by Nick Friend of The Cricketer. Really encourage anyone to read it, though it does require a membership to do so.
Really is special that we appear to be cultivating a really likeable, personable, and, above all, hard working squad and getting the results from it. The story of Ethan's last 4 years is quite something, and I'll admit there are various parts of this article which brought a tear to the eye.
From Ian Westwood’s interview on the club site:
“He’s [Sam Hain] been so consistent. I’ve seen a real desire from him to lead the batting line up this. He’s been desperate to win, and he’s been exceptional. He’s been playing on one leg for the last six weeks. Injury wise, we were expecting him to be out for most of the season, if not all, but he was so determined. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”
It’s interesting to know just how bad the injury he suffered was then in that case. To see players prepared to put themselves through that to battle us to the title is something special. He just loves this club.
Times like this make me wish we still had some iteration of the Champion Couty game. That win against the MCC in Abu Dhabi was absolute vibes.
Championship winners vs Shield winners would be so fun.

On the Hain debate, I get that he hasn’t always done full justice to his talents; but I still think he’s been unlucky.
A decade ago, I thought that the future of England’s batting lay with the (almost biblical) pairing of Hain and Abell. I was wrong in both respects (though I’m told that Abell has knocked up a decent score this weekend).
I was listening to a commentary the other week against Essex and whoever it was on commentary effectively suggested they’d heard pretty concretely that around the time of Hain’s rise England selectors more or less had to pick between Root and Hain.
Hard to argue with the outcome but I do echo the sentiments shared earlier that he definitely deserved more of a go in One Day cricket. When you see this England ODI team they struggle so much for the tempo of a One Day innings and Hain is the master of it.
I think Barnard’s sentiment of us never really having been spoken about is fair - we never really got the coverage or were treated seriously. Bigger or more fairtytale stories elsewhere but my god you cannot doubt this side’s unrelenting professionalism encapsulated perfectly in Ethan Bamber’s season - and that’s what wins trophies.
We might not be the prettiest or most stylish team, but I’ll tell you what, we’re the best side in the country.
We got our fairytale even if it’s not what the media wanted. Sam Hain sealing it with a century, Ethan Bamber’s final wicket, Chris Woakes back in Warwickshire colours leading us to a title.
For what it’s worth, Barnard seems to have taken to captaincy like a duck to water. A real leader by example and such a trustworthy player with bat and with ball. Another brilliant example of recruitment.
I’m so proud to support this team.
Tear in the eye watching Keith Barker stroll out after the entire squad flooded the field.
That 3 wicket over against Essex such an integral part of this season.
I do hope that somewhere Liam Norwell is watching and knowing that none of this would have been possible without his magic and his sacrifice.
Is today the day?

That is such crap, the England international is being replaced by a bloke who's played one first-class game. It's a good job we are in a good position otherwise it looks like a poor replacement nevertheless.
Yes that's ridiculous and on a par with the number of injury substitutions most teams seem to be making. Be interesting to see a league table of who has taken advantage the most.
Do find it quite poetic that we’re incumbant and still the only team yet to use an injury replacement.
That meant so much to Sam. So much.
This feels a bit nonsensical that we can be off for bad light at 11:45.
Solid day which is reinforced by scores elsewhere.
In terms of our own game, big first hour to navigate tomorrow before we focus on piling on as many as we can on a pitch which appears to be deteriorating already. Their first and second change bowlers have not looked anywhere near as threatening as Green and Holland.
Not been able to watch live until the last 10 minutes. How’s the pitch playing? Seems to be enough there for our seamers.
Absolutely fizzing for this tomorrow.

I think these days Sky only show championship cricket at the Oval where the cameras etc are already set up. They even use Surrey commentators.
I don’t think they will spend anything on covering Edgbaston.
wouldn't read so much into this as the schedule gets updated ad hoc when they decide they want to cover County Championship games. I'd be surprised if they're not showing at least a game. They tend to on the final week from memory.
Got to imagine that the game will be live on Sky this week if they're arsed enough to show some CC that isn't Surrey?
Assume we want Leicestershire to win today to ensure some (hopefully) sore heads later in the week.
Yeah pretty sure I remember Leics’ announcement mentioning that he’d be unavailable against us in both comps.
