As a sidenote, the management of the women’s team has been atrocious in comparison to that of other clubs. It screams of unprofessionalism that they become one of the inaugural tier one counties and fail to employ the staff that a proper professional setup deserves to the point where players leave as a result. It gives the impression of being treated as a side hustle rather than elite sport.

As for the men’s game, it’s been on a spiral for a while. The turning of heads to our own Academy talent in favour of repeated external recruitment without return. The “footbalisation” of the club with the arrival of James Thomas, picking and choosing which players we want from other conties, has undermined the plethora of blooming talent we had on our hands. Shaikh gone, Ali will end up the same way. Theo Wylie, Ben Blakemore, Isaac Mohammed. It’s no way to sell a pathway to players if countless example of talent moving on after the county missed the opportunity to see it shine.

Thomas should be praying that we win the Championship.

Difference looking back is that we just didn't bat out our overs. The way we handled those last two partnerships was pretty poor when we had to get Booth back on strike to maximise scoring opportunities. They had an international batter shepherding their chase, though, and that's a pretty big difference. Fielding felt a big difference between the two sides too.

Completely gone off the boil these last 5 overs. Bowlers have gone away from what's been working and the fielding has dropped off entirely. Leicestershire favourites now.

Brilliant win over Glamorgan U18 this week with Eddie Miller taking 6-37 in the fourth innings to go with his second innings 86 opening the batting. Really encouraging performance.

Not selected in the hundred tonight, meaning he’ll be available for ODC selection on Friday.

I think the club shop is trying to buy in to the Indian market, and in general the surge of “mystery cricket shirt” boxes. They’ve had BBL and CPL shirts in there I believe, and they tend to be there year round.

If it were a choice of Simpson or Cox I’d be much more interested in Simpson as a red ball keeper with Smith taking white ball duties.
